Good Child Music Studios is the resident home of producer / performer / composer Lawson White.
Lawson White is a percussionist, record producer, and Founder and President of Good Child Music. His recording studio is a part of Studio G Brooklyn, in Brooklyn, NY.
A former member of So Percussion and Alarm Will Sound, Lawson has worked with artists such as Chromeo, Matmos, Zakir Hussain, Shugo Tokumaru, Grand Ole Opry star Connie Smith, and percussionist Robert van Sice. He has been a regular with orchestras such as the Nashville Symphony, the Rochester Philharmonic, and the Alabama Symphony.
As a producer, engineer or arranger, Lawson’s production work and recording studio is central to the thriving new music scene in New York City. He has produced recordings for David Lang, So Percussion, Bryce Dessner (The National), Glenn Kotche (Wilco), Alarm Will Sound, Missy Mazzoli and Victoire, Sarah Kirkland Snider, Ted Hearne, Zeena Parkins, William Brittelle, Paul Lansky, Steve Mackey, the International Contemporary Ensemble, and has worked with composers Steve Reich, Michael Gordon, John Zorn, Philippe Manoury, and Benedict Mason. He is a regular collaborator with New Amsterdam Records and Cantaloupe Music.
Lawson has also done extensive work with non-classical artists as a mixer, engineer or arranger, including artists such as Tony Trischka, Gil Scott-Heron, My Brightest Diamond, Michael Daves, Shakira, Santigold, Chromeo, A-trak, MNDR, Oh Land, Andrew Wyatt, Richard Russell, Amanda Blank, John Hill, Trouble Andrew, Christina Courtin, Kristin Andreassen, members of the Punch Brothers, filmmakers Jonathan Parker, Jane Pollard / Iain Forsyth, and software companies Ableton and Native Instruments.
An active songwriter and composer, his original music can be heard on recordings by So Percussion/Matmos, the score for Jonathan Parker's film Untitled, and on TV commercials.
Originally from Nashville, Lawson is the son of Nashville drummer and songwriter Wayne White. He has a BM in Music Performance and the Performer's Certificate from the Eastman School of Music, and an MM in Music Performance from Yale University.
